our hero Niel Young calls on the president and the country to stand with Standing Rock

unnamed

Update: The US Army has denied the permit allowing the NDAP to pass under the Missouri river and through Standing Rock land!

We arrived at this unprecedented historical gathering of over five hundred tribes and thousands of others standing on the front lines to protect water, to state the most basic human truth, to say water is life. Despite the painful history, today they fight peacefully for us all.

farm aid turns 30 and throws a rocking party, sept. 19, chicago

Farm Aid 30  will be at FirstMerit Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island on Saturday, September 19! Tickets on sale August 3 with (limited) discounted tickets available to farmers. There are plenty of ways for farmers, advocacy groups, and social media faries to get involved. More details: here!

If you aren’t familiar with Farm Aid yet, it’s a long-standing advocate of American farmers. Started with a benefit concert to help save family farms organized by Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, and Neil Young in 1985, for the last 30 years the organization has been instrumental (har-har) in bringing attention to the marked decline of family farms, raising support for organic farming, and fighting for the survival of small and mid-range farmers.

TALL SHIPS AFTERPARTY and TTIIP TEACH IN!
4 live bands!
Hot stuff
5pm– late
Come on out!
On July 20th,we’ve got a full afternoon and evening TALL SHIPS AFTERPARTY and TTIP teach in at Thompson’s Point in Portland Maine.  We’ve invited our favorite agrarian bands, including The Parlor, Will Dailey  and Milk and Honey Rebellion– as well as sea shanty singer Paul Hartney. It’s a stop-over event for Neil Young’s Monsanto Year’s tour— so we’ll have a full complement of organic agriculture activists in attendance, and perhaps a special guest or two. The focus of the training is on ‘terms of trade’ with a training by Food and Water watch regional director  Alex Beauchamps  and Maine Fair Trade and the Citizen Policy Commission about the impact of the TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, a free trade agreement) on New England agriculture.  Come early, stay late– tall ships forever!
