MOFGA presents “Meet Your Farmers and Fishermen: A Celebration of Community Supported Agriculture and Fisheries” on February 27 to March 1 at a locations throughout Maine.

These events are part celebration and part education, as local farmers, fishermen and other food producers tell community members how to enjoy local foods and support local businesses in a meaningful way.

Farms with Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) programs ask their CSA members to purchase a share of the coming harvest before the season begins. The benefit? Members provide the farm with much-needed capital in the off-season and later get locally grown food directly from the farmer at a fair price.

In addition to farms with CSA shares, local fishermen with Community Supported Fisheries (CSF) shares will be present in some locations.

Meet Your Farmers and Fishermen will occur in late February and early March in several Maine locations. Each location will have plenty of local flavor, whether tastings featuring local foods, sales of food and other products from local farms and businesses, local business and community center hosts, and more.

The dates, times and places of these events may change and more venues may be added; please check for up-to-date information before attending. Currently, the following locations, dates and times are planned:
