CLC is hosting a free Farmer Landowner Meet and Greet, a unique opportunity for those interested in farmland leasing. There will be a short presentation by CLC about its Farmer Landowner Match program, addressing key components of successful farmland lease arrangements. This will be followed by a facilitated program based on the “speed dating” model, designed to give farmers seeking land and landowners seeking farmers a chance to meet each other and exchange information in an organized format. Maps of lands available for lease, farmer business plans, photographs, and other relevant information will be provided. Local food and drinks will be served. It should be a fun and enjoyable evening, and we very much hope you will consider taking advantage of this opportunity. To register, contact Marissa Codey at 518.392.5252, ext. 211 or firstname.lastname@example.org by October 25. RSVP soon to reserve a spot!
Harvesting Opportunities. CLC is on the steering committee and will be participating in workshops as part of Harvesting Opportunities in New York: Growing Local Food Economies and Protecting Farmland, a conference hosted by the American Farmland Trust that will inspire and educate New Yorkers to support agriculture, strengthen local farm and food economies, and get involved in protecting farmland. This exciting one-day event will take place on November 15 at the Hotel Albany in downtown Albany. Farmers, public officials, land trusts, local food and public health leaders and concerned citizens are encouraged to attend. Highlights will include remarks by Verlyn Klinkenborg a member of the New York Times Editorial Board, and author of The Rural Life. The $85 registration fee includes a locally sourced Thanksgiving-themed lunch. Help Us Plan for the Future. CLC is undertaking an update to our strategic plan to develop realistic and meaningful goals on which to focus our resources in the next three to five years. Because it is critically important to us that we receive feedback and ideas from members of the community, we have prepared a brief survey. It should take 5-10 minutes to complete. Please take the time to complete the survey—your thoughts and opinions are very valuable to us as we plan for our future. Here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/P32C6VK
