BUCK MOUNTAIN EXPERIMENTAL STATION CARETAKER/FARMING OPPORTUNITY
Looking for a couple or small collective (no more than 3) to care for our 22-acre, off-the- grid, educational homestead in Humboldt County in preparation for our summer 2013 education season.
Duties include: hydro/solar management, garden management (drip irrigation maintenance; greenhouse planting; fruit tree and berry bush pruning; cover crop rotation; bed prep for summer planting), chicken wrangling, compost tending. Other projects, if skill sets and time permits, include: forest management for fire safety and small building projects, trail restoration, greywater redesign and install.
Caretakers needed March 2013 – June 2013.
Accommodations are provided in deluxe 800 square-foot log octagon. Negotiated fee/exchange for work. Possible work extension, with pay, assisting with educational groups July–October 2013.
