Negotiations on the 2012 Farm Bill will begin in the next several months. This comprehensive piece of legislation creates, amends, and funds the majority of federal food and agriculture programs, and is the primary tool for food and agriculture policy in the U.S
Before farm bill negotiations begin, you have two opportunities to share your thoughts and feedback on the direction the bill should take:
1) Complete OFRF’s 2012 Farm Bill Survey – the 2012 Farm Bill will be a major component of our policy work in the next few years. We want to know what organic farmers think we ought to prioritize in our farm bill campaign. If you have not already done so, please take a few minutes to fill out the survey. The survey will close on July 21, 2010.
2) Tell the House Agriculture Committee to invest in organic agriculture in the 2012 Farm Bill – the committee is taking feedback on the 2012 Farm Bill on their website until July 28, 2010. For OFRF’s talking points, read our OFAN Alert from June 9.
Thank you for taking action! Please contact Tracy Lerman, OFRF Policy Organizer attracy@ofrf.org if you have any questions.
